I recently purchased this P14-204 House of Troy brass piano lamp from amazon.com.-- WHY? I was looking for a quality brass piano lamp which would use incandescent light bulbs and shine a lot of light on the piano music on my Yamaha Clavinova CLP330 piano. This P14-204 House of Troy lamp looked like a good choice -- it claims to use two 60 watt T10 incandescent light bulbs and looked wide enough to span 2 pages of music.-- MANUFACTURER PACKAGING = GOOD -- It arrived in good shape and was well packaged.-- BEAUTIFUL -- It looks beautiful. (I include a few photos to illustrate its size relative to my piano and the sheet music and also show the on/off push button switch.)-- STURDY & GENERALLY WELL-CONSTRUCTED -- The base is fairly heavy -- you don't need to worry about it falling over. Although in general the lamp appears to be well constructed and a quality product, the on/off button appears loose in its housing (and that makes me wonder how long that button will last).-- *** CAUTION: USING THE RECOMMENDED 60 WATT BULBS MAY NOT BE SAFE *** -- Lastly, I don't know if the lamp I received has faulty wiring or not. Using the two recommended 60 watt T10 incandescent light bulbs, it doesn't take very long (a few minutes) before it creates a burning smell and the lamp shade itself gets extremely hot to touch. This concerns me because it is so close to the sheet music which is paper (and so flammable). I had contacted customer service at the House of Troy and they were not very helpful. (I am not sure what I had expected from them -- I guess I had hoped that they would be able to provide a way to verify that the electrical wiring was done properly. Having worked in customer service positions with other companies in the past, that would have been how we would have approached it. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to care if the house burns down or not due to a possible defects in the electrical wiring. I am hoping that they have more experienced people in customer service than the individual I had contact with.) I don't know if others experienced this potential safety issue or not. Since I don't really want to ship this very heavy, large-boxed item back, I am going to try to see if plugging it into a light dimmer accessory from a hardware store might solve the problem. Again, it looks great and has many great features, but from my first out-of-the-box experience, it is inaccurate to say that it is safe to use two 60 watt T10 incandescent bulbs. (This is disappointing -- one of the reasons I had purchased this model was because it used 60 watt -- not 40 watt bulbs.) I hope others can comment on their experiences with the 60 watt bulbs -- it might help me determine if the unit I had received has faulty wiring.-- MADE IN THE USA -- Also, I was looking to support domestic (US) economy and I was happy that my unit had a tag with "Made in the USA" -- although it is definitely possible that they might have some units made elsewhere, as noted by another buyer,
