This is a good quality lamp. We have it on a small table between two recliners. It is very sturdy. Definitely will not fall over no matter what position it is at. With that quality it has a very large base which takes up too much of the table. Will probably use it elsewhere.Bought silver, got yellowish stainless steel. Great over all.I loved this desk lamp for 15 months. It has a firm heavy base and a bright light that I turned upwards. I kept it on my desk and could easily flip it down for paper work or leave it up for ambient light while on my computer. Then 2 days ago it started making an electrical short sound from the handy switch. Clearly it would short out and perhaps start a fire if I had left it on. I unplugged it and am bummed that I don’t have this light and it’s too old to return for a refund. I’ll find another company for my next desk lamp. Meanwhile I’ll try to fix it since I learned to do that in “shop for girls” in high school. It's a good lamp. Range of motion good. Lights up very well. the instruction weren't very good. Pictures & descriptions were very lacking. Overall I like it.Received in a almost broken box with badly cushion but luckily no dents anywhere. The design/cost, material are all great and lot better than others (I had 3 of those swing lamps from deff brands). it' has true 30+ ins arms instead of some 20+ small swing lamps. However, couple drawbacks: (1) miss 2 nuts at the end of arm bracket. considering takes me 3 miles to drop to Kolhs to return, I choose to drive 1 mile to homedepot with $1.5 to buy nuts to fix it, (2) the lower arm can not lean more than 90 degrees like lot of weight-base lamps owers complained. they made it happened by blocking the lower arm thru flipping metal a bit. To fix it, just nail it back the metal will let arms move forward especially this product does offer mounting alternative to mount on the desk. Finally I still get the good product, but wish the vendor can do it better. This is to confirm what you read by others, plus one more nitpick, the switch is on the cord, near the base. Since I am using the (flimsy, plastic) clamp instead of the (enormous) base, I must get up, walk around the table, reach down over the edge to access the switch. My other architect's gooseneck has the switch within reach, right on the housing. I'll probably build a new cord with the switch at the housing.Speaking of reach, the clamp is mounted on the back edge of a 36" wide surface, again to keep the work area freed up. This put the housing hovering at a 14" height, 12" from the front edge. Would like to have still more reach, but its adequate. A lesser reach would have been unacceptable. As for discussions about light bulbs, you are supplying it. A round bulb like an A19 will protrude, be directly visible from around the room. Some LED's are like that also. Some bulbs have long necks, some are short. I've had success with flatter BR20's for flood or spot.As for intensity for my electronics soldering work, I've sampled a 50W outdoor halogen (too dim), and a 7W LED (OK for work but too bright for casual desktop in a dark room). I finally settled in on a compromise. For casual unobtrusive, a PAR16 5.5W LED narrow flood throwing 380 lumens. Then for microscopic work, swap in the 7W LED flood for 550 lumens. The lamp is very bright and tall enough that my entire drawing board can be exposed to its light. Very glad I got this! Now I can draw without any complications due to lack of light. The lamp is larger than I expected. I have a pretty good sized desk and if the lamp sat on the desk I would lose the space I need for all of my papers, and other stuff I use for work.I’m not returning it though, I like the classic yet modern style. It is sturdy and appears very well made. It is a solid product, I’ve only had it for a week so we will see how it holds up. I put in a 40W bulb and OMG it was like looking at the sun. I had to go buy a lower watt bulb. I think I have a 15W in there now and I could even go down to a 10. If you are doing drafting or need a really night light, look no further. I type on a laptop and my desk is next to the only window in the little office. With how dark it gets now a days, I needed something to let me see what I’m doing. I like it, I don’t love it. But I wouldn’t return it. Be sure the SIZE is right for you.Excelentes materiales, diseño y tamaño. Se acomodó perfecto a mi pequeña oficina en casa. Es muy fácil de instalar y llegó en perfectas condiciones.
