I have had an Ultrabrite desktop lamp for at least 3 years but it took a fall so I recently replaced it with an OttLite so much of this review is a comparison.The OttLite can be quickly and easily adjusted without repositioning the lamp to shine light on any portion of my desktop. When adjusted, the arms of the light remain firm enough for me to hang my headphones which is an important factor to me. Short cords reduce desktop clutter and the USB charging port on the OttLite allows me to use a short USB cable to keep my headphones charged. I can adjust the OttLite to a height that does not interfere with the laptops on my desk.The buttons on the OttLite base are visible without my reading glasses on and they operate without having to press more than once for the intended function.The best part of the OttLite is the bright light it casts on the section of my desk that needs light. You can easily adjust the color of the light with a button click. I prefer the whiter light setting, but sometimes when looking closely at color printouts I switch to a different spectrum light. I prefer bright desk lighting and the OttLite actually can be adjusted a notch brighter than I prefer, which is something that I have not found in any other light, except maybe in an antique halogen bulb lamp.The OttLight is stylish, functional, and is an excellent addition to my home office.
