The cord is not the standard rubber one, it is a soft cloth material, I really like it and adds to the overall beautiful look and quality...this is a nice touch they put into this product . It does not bother me that the cord hangs down in the back but if you don't like that, you can affix it to the wood with a brown color zip tie12. The shade is a beautiful woven lookI could go on and on about this lamp. Buy it...you will not regret it!
